Keys to Successful Living

During the US civil war Abraham Lincoln met with a group of ministers for a prayer breakfast. Lincoln was a man of deep, if at times unorthodox, faith. At one point one of the ministers said, “Mr. President, let us pray that God is on our side”. Lincoln’s response showed far greater insight, “No, gentlemen, let us pray that we are on God’s side.” If we want to know what God wants us to do, then we must first strive to live a life of conformity to Him.
The key for churches in the 21st Century is church health, not church growth. When we who are Essentials Church are healthy, we will grow spiritually and enjoy the benefits of a live, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ. A healthy Christian will not find his strength or determine his weakness in the size of the church he attends.
What are the signs that the child of God lives a life that is nourished by the Word of God and illuminated by the Holy Spirit? The Book of Acts 2:42 gives us the answer,
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”
