Final Destination

I grew up with three older sisters and my family would make our yearly vacation trip from Atlanta, GA to Panama City, Florida. Families traveling down the road on vacation inevitable face the most pressing question any child has ever asked and that is….

“Are we there yet?”

My parents would turn around and say as other parents would, “Not yet. But we’re closer than when we started.”

Or my parents would say, “Not too much further.”

Yet no matter how you respond, on long trips kids seem totally focused on the final destination.

Now in some ways, that’s not a bad thing because at least you have a destination. Without a clear destination, a journey lacks focus; it lacks any way to measure progress forward because you don’t know what way forward is.

As a student, to know your final destination is graduation, helps in keeping you on track to reach that special day.

As a single person, to know your final destination is marriage, helps you in the dating process choose the right person to spend the rest of your life with.

Where is this spiritual journey we call life taking us? Ask yourself the question: What is my final destination?
